Tasman Bitter

Brewed and bottled in Australia by J. Boag & Son, Tasman Bitter is actually the intellectual property of Coles your local grocery store and it shows. It’s almost as if J. Boag & Son don’t want anyone to know they have a hand in its creation.
No where on the bottles labeling does it mention J. Boag & Son and furthermore the J. Boag & Son website fails to mention the brew at all. The bottle also lacks any brief descriptive details of the beer and its heritage. All you will get from its insignificant labeling is that this bitter is ‘traditionally brewed using fine Tasmanian ingredients’. Labeling and advertising aside this beer is a cheap purchase. You can currently pick up a carton at 1st Choice for $29.99. A 375ml bottle of Tasman Bitter has a standard drink value of 1.4 which is average for that of an Australian bitter. As for the taste there is an initial tongue tingling bitterness that fades quickly in your mouth. The beer is crisp if served cold and has a sweet floral hops smell. The brews appearance is clear, light and golden with plenty of bubbles and a small amount of head when poured correctly.
Overall this beer is pretty average and for $29.99 a carton I’d rather get myself a carton of Oettinger Pils any day. I’m glad I only bought the one tester this time round.

Tasman Bitter Bloody Beautiful! Better than tampered with VB! Our drink of choice now……..
Gotta be a good beer, having come from Boag’s, right? Wrong. Barely any better than its brother, Hammer N Tongs.
Pretty nasty, even for the bargain price. Be aware there are quality beers out there for the same money. If you’re only looking at spending $30 or so, I can’t recommend Oettinger Pils enough. Different style of brew, but much more drinkable.
tasman bitter love it. But have just purchased new look bottle (thinner than before) doesnt fit in my stubbie holder. ALSO HAS LESS ALC THAN BEF0RE NOW 4.4% this also is not so good.
Always been a Tasman fan but the new thinner bottle really is a pain, please send us stubby holders to fit nice & snug
Keep up the good work
just bought a 6 pack of this beer from a bottolo in bris. still before its best before date picked it up for $4 kinda makes me wiery to try
Picked up a 6 pack for $4 with a purchase of Carlton draught, I left the Tasman thinking it was going to be terrible tasting but it turns out tastes pretty similar to draught and better than vb
my hubby absolutely loves Tasman Bitter but only cans. He has been collecting his cans in a large recycle bin and have just looked the recycle bin is nearly full. Now that’s what I call commitment and NO he doesn’t have a drinking problem he just loves to kick back after a hard day at work and have a beer or two.
