I live in the Netherlands and never saw this beer before in the supermarket and/or liquor store.

On vacation in Italy I tasted it and I agree with most that it is not one of the best beers – but at its price (and well chilled) it is OK. Nevertheless I would not buy it again – prefer to pay a bit more for a nice bottle of Grolsch (Dutch beer from same brewery).

A great beer! $45 for a slab of pint cans from my local Dan Murphys, which works out to be about $1.90 a pint (500ml).

Cheaper and better than any local beer, any day of the week.

To those who stated they would prefer to drink their own piss before this beer then you are welcome to.

This beer is outstanding. Both in terms of taste and value. The history behind it is more than enough proof to back this up. Almost all Australian beers are simply dreadful. There are exceptions to this but by in large they are vile.

Amsterdam is a good clean taste and excellent value,
I would recommend it to anyone.

That’s because you don’t know shit about beer, about as much as you know your ass from your elbow. What makes this beer so good is that it retains a pleasant taste at any temperature, which is difficult for any heavy beer. I mean it has more alcohol than most Australian beers and isn’t overpowering. You’ve been drinking too much of our shit destroying your palate with binging. I tell you this beer is one of the oldest in the world, since 1275. So this was around way before any of the crap we think is beer. So don’t be an ignorant bugger thinking you know more than 8 hundred years of brewing knowledge. The mere fact it has survived this long is testament in itself. The best beers ever made is Furstenberg-since 1283 and Bitburger since 1817, the Germans know how to brew, we don’t know shit. Peace.

I’m at the tail-end of a slab of 500ml cans of these for which I paid $40.00 at Woolworths. That’s still overpriced compared to, say, Germany (there I remember getting single 500ml cans of full strength beer from the Shell servo at 4.30AM for just 65 euro cents including 10 cents refundable deposit – that works out to EU13.20 for a slab after you get your deposit back!), but compared to a slab of VB which retails at $47.00 it’s still great value and tastes a lot better too I reckon.

Crackin’ a cold one of these 500mL cans is as refreshing on the mouth as it is on the pocket. Australian beer companies should be ashamed because their prices are far too high and are thus, truly un-Australian (our national drink is almost unaffordable to the average worker). Nonetheless, I have been drinking this lovely beer for 6 years and I adore it and the change left in my wallet. However, having spent time in the coool city of Amsterdam and sampled the other stronger beers in the AMSTERDAM range; AMSTERDAM NAVIGATOR and AMSTERDAM MAXIMATOR, I am annoyed to the max that Australia does not readily stock these pocket rocket gems.

worst beer i have ever had, i needed some pre drinks before i hit the town, i didnt mind what i got just as long as it was cheap, i got amsterdam, worst beer iv had could not finish 2, i would rather neck a hot VB than have a frotsy cold amsterdam

Cheap beer, from the onset seems ok,

but after a few taste sessions wore thin and cant bare to taste it again.

Oettinger pils is a MUCH nicer beer for the same money.

I live in the Cayman Islands and this is the cheapest beer on the island. Everything is expensive here and this beer sells for only $.99 CI per beer. That’s about $1.2USD. If someone is selling this beer for $9.99USD for a six pack they are overcharging. Maybe it just depends on where you are. Really it’s not a terrible beer, but I wouldn’t pay more than a dollar per beer. Of course I come from Oregon and I am very picky about my beer selections. This beer has a very malty, sweet flavor. Its very similar to Steel Reserve. Almost like a malt liquor.
