Bondi Blonde

Monday, May 21st, 2007

A new player on the beer market and aimed at the body conscious amongst us beer drinkers. Bondi Blonde is a low carbohydrate, full strength lager that has the added benefit of being preservative free. It contains one third the carbohydrates of your average full strength beer.

I have to admit that when I was told to try Bondi Blonde I was a bit hesitant, much to the disappointment of my mate who loves the beer, but I eventually succumbed to it & my friend and I bought a carton. It’s a smooth, light-tasting beer with no overwhelming flavours; it has a slightly sweet smell and a medium yellow appearance. I can tell you that a carton goes down very easily, as I found out first-hand a few weekends ago. Bondi blonde is 100% Australian owned and just as well, considering its name. The beer is bottled and brewed in Australia by the Bluetongue Brewery NSW.

Bondi Blonde has some great advertising campaigns going for it which include Miss Bondi Blonde 2007, Jamie Wright who was handpicked by Paris Hilton among others on New Year’s Day.

A great television ad for this beer is currently under review with some critics calling for it to be banned, why anyone would want to ban it I honestly don’t know – I myself love it! Check it out for yourself:

As they say in the ad ‘nothing goes down like a Bondi Blonde’ it’s a great beer and it’s great for the gut – good work Bluetongue!

Amsterdam Mariner

Friday, May 11th, 2007

Amsterdam Mariner premium lager is a fully imported beer that is brewed and bottled in Holland and let me tell you, it’s not a bad beer. It is currently retailing at my local BWS for $9.99 a six-pack.

This beer was introduced locally to Holland in 1994 and now gets exported to over 50 countries worldwide. It’s a full flavored lager with quite a strong taste of hops but not so overpowering that it stops you wanting more. I could happily drink a six-pack in one sitting. The alcohol content isn’t as strong as other premium lagers sitting at 4.8%. The beer itself has a medium yellow colour and smells slightly sweet.

Amsterdam Mariner is brewed by the Royal Grolsch Breweries in Holland which have almost four centuries of brewing knowledge. This beer has a 12 month shelf life which makes it good for any modern day bomb shelter that requires a ready supply of beer. I suggest you go out and start stocking up on this beer now, because at $9.99 a six-pack, it’s a steal!

Tiger Beer

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

‘World Acclaimed’ lager beer a title which it rightfully deserves – Tiger beer is currently available in over 59 different countries worldwide! Tiger beer is brewed exclusively in Asia and has been since 1932. Our Tiger beer here in Australia comes from the Asia Pacific Breweries in Singapore, where it is both brewed and bottled under license.

While some of us may be waiting for some sort of ROAR to come out of opening a bottle of Tiger I am sorry to disappoint you, but this will not happen. You will however be left with a crisp, creamy taste in your mouth once you have had your first sip. Tiger beer is a premium, fully imported lager beer. The beer itself has a sweet smell to it, a light yellow colour and a smooth creamy taste, which does not overpower the other qualities of the beer. For all those ‘die hard’ Aussies out there, you will be pleased to know that not everything in this beer comes from overseas. Tiger beer is brewed with Australian malt barley and more interestingly has its own exclusive strain of yeast that is cultured in Holland. Tiger beer has won many awards and accolades over the years, some of which can be seen on the bottles’ label. The label itself has also changed a number of times since the creation of this beer, 15 times to be exact – below is the original Tiger beer label and bottle:

This is a very satisfying lager beer that will leave you wanting more (and unfortunately I just drank my last one). It has all the characteristics of a great beer rolled into a stylish little package. I highly suggest you try one or two or even a sixpack if you haven’t done so already!
